FOST (Friend Of Shaarei Tefillah)
Shaarei Tefillah would like to thank all of its Mispalelim for their continued financial support.
The last 10 months have been a challenging time for many members of our community and we certainly appreciate your commitment.
In particular we would like to thank those that donated so generously at the end of the last financial year. Without that help it would have been a real struggle.
Over the coming weeks Shaarei Tefillah will commence its FOST 21 campaign.
FOST is an annual contribution which helps to ensure Shaarei Tefillah is able to continue to operate the way that it does.
Boruch Hashem, since the reopening of the shul we have an increase in minyonim and attendees. We welcome a number of new families to our shul who have joined us from interstate and overseas.
We have also just concluded a very successful summer youth program, which has included daily learning programs, a day camp and 2 very successful girls activities.
We look forward to the year ahead with excitement and anticipation and hope that each and every one of our kehillah will be part of our continued journey as a kehillah.
Thank you once again for your support

Shaarei Shabbos Riddles
- When can you offer up a Korban Yochid on Shabbos?
- Who in the Torah brought a Korban Yochid on Shabbos?
- Which son of Yaakov is mentioned in this parsha?
- In this parsha, in what three contexts did Moshe take his mateh (staff)?
- What posuk in this parsha has five two-letter words in a row?
Short Vort on the Parsha
Shortly after their miraculous exodus from Mitzrayim, Bnei Yisroel found themselves trapped between the Egyptian army and the sea, and they called out to Hashem. Hashem responded that they should proceed straight into the sea. Rashi (Shemos 14:15) explains, Hashem was informing them that the merit of their forefathers, coupled with their ironclad trust in Him, was enough of a reason for Him to split the sea on their behalf. Rav Wolbe comments that we can glean from here the power of bitachon. When a person believes wholeheartedly that Hashem will help him, he can be sure that Hashem will indeed help him. Bnei Yisroel blindly followed Hashem out of Egypt into the wilderness, and therefore, Hashem came to their rescue even when it entailed miraculously splitting the sea for them. There is one catch to this phenomenal power. You must really believe it. Rav Wolbe related that a man told Reb Yisroel Salanter that he was certain that Hashem was going to cause him to win the lottery and therefore he felt no need to work. Reb Yisroel told him that if he truly believes that Hashem is going to make him win, then he will win the lottery. A few days later Reb Yisroel asked the fellow if he would be willing to sell him his "winning" ticket for half the amount of the jackpot and the man readily agreed. "If you really believed that Hashem would make you win" said Reb Yisroel, "then you would never sell me the ticket for a mere half of the money that you expect to win."
